PART 1 OF 2 ... This weekend's project was finishing the "bedroom" wall and building a bed. The wall was framed in, another inch of foam was added, and luan was put up to cover it all. Then a twin size bed was made that could swivel upward on a piano hinge like a 'murphy bed'.
After finishing the windows and boxing in the wheel wells, it was time to lay some flooring. This segment covers the last part of the weekend, and into Tuesday after work.
Hosed down the interior of the bus this weekend and gave it a good scrubbing. Finished installing the final window and applied a liberal layer of caulking. Then I built some boxes around the wheel wells. Lots of good work!
Demonstration of how the window blanks were installed. This doesn't show the caulking, but does show the residue left in the window frame after the original aluminum frames are removed.
Day two of cutting off the paneling in the rear of the bus. This is the ONLY panel I will remove. Cutting through steel rivets and steel paneling to find decent fiberglass is going to take too much valuable time.
I demonstrate 3 techniques for removing rivets. The methods covered are:
1) Knocking the head off with a Cold Chisel & Mallet,
2) Drilling through the shaft with a Bi-Metal Bit
3) Cutting and Grinding the head with an Angle Grinder
Removing the last of the OSB flooring in the bus. Because it was under the cage, and the cage is riveted into the walls, it was a royal pain to remove. But after having my nose TWACKED out of join earlier in the week while removing flooring, I had a lot of pent up aggression to use.
